The next stage of the alliance plan began at Destino, as tau insertion forces joined the Eldar Harlequins of the Sisters of Quartz in a joint expedition against the imperial defence lasers on Destino 1. Still recovering from the huge space battle just weeks before, the Carcharadons and Adeptus Mechanicus teams sent to investigate reports of intruders in the defensive positions were surprised to encounter alliance forces. Destino was a long way from the alliance sphere of interest, so the attack was all the more unsettling.
The Carcharadons led the Ad Mech into the underground laser silos as the tau began to prep their demolition charges. However, the Sisters of Quartz charged, cutting down a number of the imperial astartes before the Mechanicum team retreated from the compound. Having secured the installation, the explosives detonated, rendering the Destino 1 defences inoperable. The alliance insertion team withdrew leaving the imperium confused and suspicious over the sabotage mission. Who were they laying the ground for?
