The end of 02.019M42 saw a lull in the fighting on Hexis. The imperium conducted training missions between astartes forces and others, most notably the Grey Knights once again taught their fellow imperial comrades valuable lessons, defeating an entire Knight Household in one exercise, while general Konev began construction on a weapon that could only be sanctioned on a dead world. The new weapon would see the use of atomics on Hexis once complete, as the adeptus Mechanicus worked feverishly on the artillery pieces that would launch nuclear shells into the heart of the chaos lines. Inquisitor Vorushko approved the plans, stating there was nothing of worth on the planets surface to worry about. Meanwhile the Departmento Ministorium began preparations for an atomic conflict.
Behind the chaos front line, old scores were settled between the Emerald Serpent and the new faction of living Thousand Sons. Keen to establish dominance over the remnants of the old legion, the Emerald Serpent conducted a punitive raid on the Legion Astartes force, defeating the Thousand Sons and asserting their dominance. Stahl was unimpressed, but at least the in fighting did not hamper his plans, as the Warsmith secured his supply lines to the Enceladus subsector, and much needed supplies began arriving in the last days of 02.019M42. Both sides on Hexis now believed they had the resources to defeat the other, and the stage was set for further bloodshed.
