Titanic battles in the wastes of Hexis

The first use the Titan forces, and their major deployment on Hexis took place a day after the initial landings. Unaware that the forces of chaos had titans of their own general Konev was hoping to encircle Menthoteph from the east, swinging round into the Great Sand Sea in order to threaten the chaos fortifications in the south. Thus occupied by titans, the traitor forces would be unable to hold on to their positions in the cities, while Konev’s Guard and knight households made their major offensive in the west against the alliance.

House Tyrannis knights accompanied the Titans into the swirling sands of the deserts of Cralth, before the mighty war engines turned south into the uplands near Menthoteph’s ancient fortress complex. As they did so, worrying energy signatures were picked up from beyond the great cliffs, and the imperial forces prepared for combat.

The imperium were shocked to discover the war engines of Legio Mortis on Hexis, but prepared for battle none the less. A critical breakdown in command and communications then occurred, possibly due to Hexis’s scouring sand winds, which left the imperial force in confusion. Sensing their advantage, the traitor war engines, including at least one Warlord Titan and a host of warhounds, closed with their hated foe. Soon the imperial knights were toppled and the reaver Titan holding the main pass into Cralth was severely damaged. Void shields flared as both sides exchanged volleys of titanic energy, their flashes lighting up the low clouds as darkness fell, visible from both the imperial and chaos bases. The confused action was costly for both sides, as titanic war engines were silenced by colossal firepower. Fortunately for the imperium, no catastrophic detonations occurred, and with both sides having taken a severe mauling, the titans disengaged, leaving neither the victor. Konev has been unable to sweep round into the chaos flank, but the titans had prevented a certain defeat at the hands of Legio Mortis, and now the general was confident that his left flank was secure, at least for now.
