General Veers suffered a severe setback in early 05.020M42 as the Ynnari once again returned to Corticant. Attacking from the hills to the north east of Bymarsh the Ynnari showed Veers that while his forces had control over the habitable zones, they had no way of preventing such unexpected attacks from the vast uninhabited wilderness areas that made up most of the world. Not at least, until every last webway portal was found and eliminated, and Veers had no idea how many there were. For now, the Imperium had made sure that every settlement and the main road junctions connecting them had protection in the form of military garrisons. Being so close to the device chamber on Corticant, Blackhollow was under the protection of the Adeptus Mechanicus, but their skitarii forces were no match for the elite aeldari force that fell upon them with frightening speed. The entire Mechanicum defending force was wiped out, taking Bymarsh and cutting off the Imperial Guard at Blackhollow further north.
With no way to rescue his forces, Veers ordered the garrison to abandon its post. The defeat of the Ad Mech forces at Bymarsh was total, but the loss of Blackhollow as a result was an even more painful, as Veers now faced an enemy that was once again in a position to assault the device chamber at the excavation site.
