Following the successful advance by the Tau in 04.020M42, the assault on Orebro was being prepared by the Tau commander Malkaor. He knew that the Imperium would likely put in place fixed defences which would be difficult to assault, while keeping back their astartes to counter strike when the tau attack faltered. Malkaor needed to come up with a strategy that would play to his army's strengths, instead of playing to the Imperium's script.
The assault started with a fire warrior and drone advance on the Imperial defences. Malkaor was careful to make this attack look like the main assault, baiting the Hammers of the Emperor into striking. This worked, and the elite astartes chapter sent their key forces sent in their armoured forces in a pinpoint strike against the strongest Tau force. This was the point at which Malkaor sent in his reserves. Hiding in a manta in low orbit a force of elite crisis suits, specifically equipped to deal with astartes, dropped into the centre of the astartes strike.
The sudden appearance of this force, described as a "crisis bomb" by the Imperial troops, had a devastating impact. The Hammers of the Emperor were massacred, and despite a retaliatory orbital strike, the damage was done. The Imperium had lost their elite strategic reserve, unhinging the defence of Orebro. Who could leave, left, as the Tau rapidly followed up taking the city and most of the PDF and Guard forces prisoner. Once again the main planet of Hussaria was in Tau hands.
